“Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.”

Philip Gilmore
Counsellor

I am a level 3 trained IFS (Internal Family Systems) counsellor. Although I have attended many other trainings and workshops, such as EMDR, ACT, CBT, DBT, Flash, etc., I still find IFS to be the most effective way to address most mental health issues. Of course, its not for everyone, and mindfulness is often a good place to start.

Counselling can help to relieve the symptoms of your anxiety, depression, PTSD, complex trauma, sexual harm, chronic pain, abandonment fears, etc. As you release these constraints, typically you will start to gain more access to your truest and most confident self. Many people, especially other counsellors, come to this kind of counselling for ‘personal growth’ - to feel freer, more open hearted, calmer and more joyful - to be more unashamedly themselves.

Before becoming a counsellor I worked in business, and also for a time in the movie industry. I have benefitted a great deal personally from counselling, and continue to do so, and love that I am able to support you for a while as you begin to unlock your true potential.

“… when I can accept myself as I am, then I can change.”

Carl Rogers

Self-acceptance has been a gradual process beginning with accepting that I am full of contradictions. Until I came across Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, those contradictions didn’t really make sense to me. These days I would say that when a part of me feels truly accepted as it is, then it can change, which is a twist on something that the famous American psychologist Carl Rogers said.
